Foot Assessment

Footplate analysis and how it can build the bespoke insoles and what they do.

Footplate analysis is an assessment that takes place on a pressure plate that looks at the foot position, weight bearing, high and low arches and gait pattern. It can help with injury prevention by giving them further details on posture and can also make bespoke insoles.

Insoles are used to help support the areas in your foot that are problematic, like lifting low arches help relives heel pain as well as compensating for any joint deformities such as in the ankle, knee and hip.

Bespoke insoles are made to reduce any pain by correct positioning and reduce any bio-mechanical problems.

What it helps?

  • Gait abnormalities
  • Muscle imbalance
  • Joint movement
  • Reduces pain
  • Improving posture
  • Identifying biomechanical issues
  • Reoccurring injuries
  • Planter fasciitis

How does it work?

During the assessment you will be asked to remove your shoes and socks. Then your physiotherapist will instruct you to stand on the foot plate for 30 seconds. Then you will be asked to do single leg balance left foot then right for 30 seconds each. To finish off you will be asked to walk back and forward across the foot plate.

After completing this the physiotherapist will run through the results and discuss the treatment option. If you and physiotherapist then choose bespoke insoles, your treating physiotherapist will send off all the information off for your custom insoles to be made which will take around 2 weeks.
